What causes my watches and jewelry to corrode?

Cuaesquiera watches that use to start eroding. I got a Timex for Christmas and the side that faces my hand is already breaking down (the small holes, rough sections of metal marked with holes). My dad has a Seiko and yours is acceptable. Always use new rings (anything except gold and platinum) are starting to corrode and mark holes. Even sometimes turn black on the inside and touch my skin anywhere. Same thing for my dad. Occasionally they 'll return to the green even my fingers (my husband and I bought matching rings engraved in Disney, the mine turned me black and green, and his finger were very well). All my remaining to be sensitive to the ears or get infected and get black holes around the edges. Anyone knows why this happens or what causes it? Anything I can do to save having to buy new watches always 6 months - a year?
